Presentation Ceremony Was Held to Commemorate the Donation of an Ambulance with Doctors Aboard

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hamamoto Tsuneo (a graduate of Tokushima University Faculty of Medicine and the Director of Minami Aoyama Hidamari Clinic) has generously donated one ambulance with doctors aboard to Tokushima University Hospital. A presentation ceremony was held on March 12th, 2026, with Dr. Hamamoto, President Kawamura, and approximately 30 other Tokushima University officials in attendance.

Dr. Hamamoto explained the generous intentions behind the donation, saying, "I heard that an ambulance with doctors aboard was getting old and that DMAT activities on the Noto Peninsula were having a hard time, so I decided to make this donation with the desire to create a new emergency vehicle for advanced medical care and for the people of Tokushima Prefecture."

The donated ambulance with doctors aboard is equipped with medical equipment and will be used in normal times to transport patients from Tokushima University Hospital to other medical institutions, and in times of disaster to transport DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) and patients in disaster-stricken areas.

Following the presentation ceremony, a ceremony was held at the Faculty of Medicine to present the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon to Dr. Hamamoto, who made a substantial donation for the 80th anniversary of foundation of the Faculty of Medicine. The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals who donate their private funds for the public good, and this is the fifth time Dr. Hamamoto has received the award for his donations to Tokushima University.
